MID-ATLANTIC WOMEN'S ICE HOCKEY LEAGUE |
The Grizzlies began in 1996-97 season from a women's ice hockey clinic held at the Hollydell Ice Arena in Sewell, New Jersey. At this time there was no B Division in the Mid-Atlantic Women's League, so the team scrimmaged against other girls/women's teams in the area. Except for a handful of players, the women and girls who came to this clinic had never played hockey, let alone skated before. The progress that they made was really fun to watch. They went from not even being able to skate forward, to becoming a close knit team with good hockey skills and the determination to win. In 1997, the Grizzlies join the newly formed B Division of the Mid-Atlantic Women's Hockey League where the teams hockey skills were put to the test. A combination of hard work, excellent coaching and the teams desire to win have made the Grizzlies the MAWHL B Division champions for the past four seasons. The Grizzlies are a team in transition. With new coaches and additions of some new players, we are looking forward to another challenging season. Whether it be on the ice or off...we are all proud to call ourself a Grizzlie! |
